We start from the heart of Linguaglossa, cycling through ancient streets and along rural roads surrounded by hazelnut trees and nature. Our first stop is to see where the 1923 lava stopped in Linguaglossa.
Then we leave to go towards Cuba Bizantina, an ancient Byzantine church surrounded by nature, where we will make a short stop.
We continue our journey towards the river until we see the spectacular small Gole dell’Alcantara, inlets of basaltic origin smoothed by the flow of the freezing water of the Alcantara river, ideal for a photographic break. Using paths that can only be traveled by bicycle, we cycle along the river until we reach the medieval bridge.
From here, we return and head towards one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Castiglione di Sicilia. Here we visit an ancient watchtower with a splendid view of the town and the Etna volcano. Next, we head to the highest point of the town to visit the majestic Lauria Castle.
After a short visit to the castle, it’s time to return to Linguaglossa. We travel along an old road, once intended for the passage of the train, which connected Castiglione di Sicilia with Linguaglossa, to return by e-bike to the starting point: the Eco Etna office in Linguaglossa.
Explore the historical and natural wonders of Sicily with our “Linguaglossa – Castiglione by E-Bike” tour. We will start directly from the historic center of Linguaglossa, a picturesque village rich in history and culture. Pedaling through its historic streets, we will reach an old disused railway, transformed into a one of a kind cycle path.
The peculiarity of this track is the presence of still intact tunnels, which will lead us to Castiglione di Sicilia, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here, we will cross the charming streets of the village until we reach the Castello di Lauria, an imposing medieval structure. From its walls, we will be able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Alcantara Valley and admire the river from above.
We will continue our journey going up the asphalt for a few kilometres, until we take a road that winds through woods and hazelnut groves, finally taking us back to the town of Linguaglossa.
The Etna 3000m E-bike tour starts from Rifugio Ragabo, Linguaglossa – Etna Nord at an altitude of 1425m. The route will take us through a variety of unique scenery, from lush pine forest to expanses of lava, giving us a breathtaking perspective on the majestic summit craters. During the e-bike tour we will cross the striking Piano Provenzana at 1800 meters, the place where nature and history intertwine in timeless harmony.
We will climb up to the 2002 Craters at an altitude of 2100 meters. We continue to Piano delle Concazze, a place of extraordinary beauty and charm. Here we can admire the spectacle of nature and celebrate our adventure on majestic Mount Etna.
The end point of our tour is Pizzi Deneri at an elevation of 2845 meters, which gives us a spectacular view of a lunar country and active summit craters. Then it’s back down with the e-bike to the starting point: Rifugio Ragabo.
